(Selected Poems : 1982-1986)
Translated from the French

Concerned with the quest for love, this selection, specially translated by Daniel Sloate from various collections of the poet’s work, is a lyrical exploration of homosexual love and the angst of solitude.

Born in 1946, JeanPaul Daoust is one of the central figures in the Quebec poetry scene. He has participated in over fifty literary reviews and magazines, and is currently on the editorial board of the poetry review, Estuaire. Since 1976 he has published a dozen books of poetry and a novel. Jean-Paul Daoust won the 1990 Governor General’s Award for Poetry. This is the first English translation of his work in book form.

A translator and poet, Daniel Sloate is a Professor in the Linguistics Department at the Université de Montréal.
